The C-EB 6th Grade Natural Helpers will be hosting the Masked Singer during their Halloween Assembly on Friday, October 30th! Some of our amazing school staff are stepping into the spotlight for a little mystery, music, and Halloween fun!
Natural Helpers are excited to bring this fun-filled event to their school community! And, classes with the most correct answers will win a prize from the Natural Helpers.

C-EB 6th Grade Natural Helpers had their first official meeting Tuesday night! 💙 Students came together to complete one of our favorite activities, a color personality test! This is always a fun way for us to get to know our students while helping them better understand themselves and the people around them.
Through the activity, students explored their own personality traits, learned more about their advisors, and talked about how different personality types can work together as a team. Next up was planning for the activities Natural Helpers will take on throughout the school year, starting with an exciting October event at the end of this month! 🎃 More details to come, soon so stay in touch!

In Memory of Robby Mader
The Eagle Butte School District 20-1 Board of Education joins our students, staff, families, and community in mourning the loss of Robert “Robby” Mader, a valued member of our school family and our community.
Robby’s connection to our schools began long before he became an employee. He walked these hallways and graduated from Eagle Butte High School with the Class of 2007. After continuing his education and earning his degree as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant, Robby chose to give back to the school community that had once helped shape him. There is something deeply meaningful about that circle; a student who leaves our halls then returns to help guide the students walking those same halls behind him.
Robby served our district as a substitute teacher and later as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant, but the impact he made cannot be measured by a job title alone. He brought his own interests and creativity in the lives of our students through LEGO, robotics, and manga reading clubs. In doing so, he gave students places to build, imagine, read, create, laugh and simply belong. Sometimes the greatest impact an educator or staff member is found in the small moments that never appear in a job description; the quiet child who finds a place where they feel comfortable, the student who discovers something they’re good at, the conversations in the hallway, the encouragement given at just the right time, or simply knowing that an adult at school sees them and cares that they are there.
To our students who are feeling this loss especially deeply; it’s okay to be sad, to miss him. To have questions, or to remember him through the moments that made you smile. Grief looks different for everyone, and you don’t have to be alone in those feelings. Talk with your family, your teachers, counselors, or another trusted adult when you need someone. As you move through the days ahead, hold onto the things Robby gave you; the encouragement, laughter, creativity, and memories. The people who make us feel seen and valued leave something with us that loss can’t take away.
The measure of a life can be found in what remains; the relationships built, the memories created, and the pieces of ourselves we leave with others. Robby leaves behind a legacy of service, creativity, and connection through the many lives he touched.
On behalf of the Board of Education, we extend our deepest condolences to Robby’s wife, Felicia; his parents, Robb and Kathy; his siblings and extended family; and everyone who knew and loved him.
We are grateful for the years Robby served with Eagle Butte School District 20-1 and, above all, for the time, patience, and care he shared with our students. The halls in which Robby once grew up became the halls in which he helped others grow.

This past weekend, our 3rd cohort of 6th grade C E-B Natural Helpers completed their training!
We are excited to welcome SEVENTEEN students into the program this year, making this our largest cohort yet! The continued interest from our 6th grade students is a wonderful reflection of the positive example previous Natural Helpers have created for students coming behind them.
Students spent the day training with the Western Prevention Resource Center and learning alongside their advisors about empathy, tolerance, self-care, meaningful conversations, and what it means to be a Natural Helper in our school community.
A special thank you to The Keya Foundation for continuing to support and coordinate the Natural Helpers program, Bill Elger with the Western Prevention Resource Center for providing this year's training, and our teacher advisors, Mrs. Paige Neigel, Ms. Rebecca Afraid of Hawk, and Ms. Alberta Miner, for supporting our students throughout the program.
We also want to thank our Natural Helpers students and their families for their commitment to the program. We are excited to see this group grow into their roles, build connections with their peers, and make a positive impact throughout our school community this year!

It is with great sadness that we share with our C-EB family the passing of Robby Mader.
Robby attended C-EB Schools and graduated in 2007. After high school, he attended Mitchell Tech, where he earned an associate degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Upon completing his education, Robby returned to Eagle Butte and joined C-EB as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A), working alongside his mother, Kathy.
Robby found great joy in working with students and was dedicated to helping them succeed. He had a special gift for making children smile, often sharing jokes and stories about his beloved cats. His kindness, sense of humor, and caring nature made a lasting impact on the students, families, and colleagues who had the privilege of knowing him.
Robby will be deeply missed by our students, staff, and the entire C-EB community. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, and all who loved him during this difficult time.

Dear Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Families and Community Members,
We are off to a great start to the school year, and much of that success is because of the support we receive from our parents, guardians, grandparents, and extended families. Thank you for making education a priority and helping our students begin the year ready to learn each day. Research consistently shows that attendance matters. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to read at grade level, achieve academic success, graduate from high school, and have greater opportunities after graduation. Even missing just two days of school each month can have a significant impact on a student's learning over the course of a year.
As we look forward to the Fair and all of the activities that bring our community together, we encourage families to remember the importance of keeping students in school. Our school calendar includes several days and weekends throughout the Fair period so that students and families can enjoy these important cultural and community events while still maintaining strong attendance. We appreciate all you do to support our children and our schools. Together, we can build on the strong start we have made, help every student succeed, and ensure that every day counts. Thank you for your continued partnership and remember: Attendance Matters! Thank you!
