Hello, Eagle Butte Community,

I am honored and excited to serve as the Superintendent of the Eagle Butte School District. Returning to Eagle Butte feels especially meaningful to me, as this community has been an important part of my educational journey. I previously served as a substitute teacher in the district during the 1992-93 school year, Assistant Principal of the 7-12 school in 1994-95, and Acting Principal of CEB High School during the 2022-23 school year. I am grateful for the opportunity to once again work alongside students, families, staff, and community members in support of educational excellence.

Education has been my life's work for the past 36 years. Throughout my career, I have served in a variety of roles, including teacher, special education paraprofessional, curriculum director, and administrator. Of those 36 years, 32 have been spent in school leadership positions, primarily as a principal at the elementary, middle school, high school, and PK-12 levels. My experiences have taken me across South Dakota, Alaska, Montana, and tribal school communities, providing me with a deep appreciation for the unique strengths and traditions that every community brings to its schools.

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a Master's Degree in Educational Administration from the University of South Dakota, as well as an Educational Specialist Degree in Superintendent Leadership from the University of Sioux Falls.

My wife, Jill, and I have been married for 36 years and are excited to become part of the Eagle Butte community. Jill will be serving as the Upper Elementary Principal for grades 2 through 6. Together, we have three adult children: Dmitri, Morkeia, and Oksana. Family has always been at the center of our lives, and we look forward to building relationships and becoming active members of the community.

Outside of education, I enjoy spending time outdoors and taking advantage of South Dakota's natural beauty. You'll often find me with my Labrador Retriever, Ruger, and our Vizsla, Sabi, whether we're exploring the outdoors, enjoying a walk, or simply spending time together.

Throughout my career, I have believed that strong schools are built through positive relationships, open communication, shared vision, and a commitment to doing what is best for students. I look forward to listening, learning, and partnering with the Eagle Butte community as we continue to create opportunities for every student to succeed.
